Read MoreI discovered a stunning yet quite small waterfall recently which prompted me to revisit an approach that I did a number of months back which is using my telephoto 70-200mm lens only to take shots.
I also gave myself the additional challenge of using a fixed shutter speed and no filters, just to see if it was possible and what type of challenges I would encounter and more over what types of shots I could pull out of the location. this approach can greatly help you in your own photography and let’s look at the many reasons in this post.
Read MoreI returned to a tree that I photographers over 4 years ago and thankfully it was still standing in the same position as it has for years, nestled among hundreds of other trees that all followed the same path, straight line up, this tree, however, was different, it had forged its own path and has taken on its own unique shape and form while being surrounded by many other trees who conform to convention rather than forge their own path.

Read MoreAs I approached the water’s edge, I was immediately struck by the vibrancy of the green from the algae that lined the many rock pools, what I need to do next was find some pools that offers something different to shoot, rather than brown “standard” seaweed and it didn’t take me long to find my first composition. This first pool would yield two compositions as I played around with exposure times, framing and of course with my polariser to remove the glare and reveal the hidden world beneath.
Read MoreA number of years back I had a set of Kase Wolverine Magnetic filters, and right from the get-go I was very impressed with how they worked and also the quality of the images that I was able to produce with them. Read MoreI was back once again to the same location I was at the night before, however this time the conditions didn’t resemble the conditions I had previously, the sky was dark and foreboding, the waves were crashing strongly on the beach, the rocks I had photographed the evening before being gently lapped by the waves, were now in the middle of a bombardment of powerful waves, so, of course, these had to once again be my subjects for photographs.
