This week’s Episode: Connemara Boat
The scene we had was absolutely stunning, calm and extremely peaceful and for the edit, I wanted to follow the same feeling, Thankfully I had everything pretty much right in the camera so the edit was only going to be a modest one. My horizon was pretty much bang on straight, just a slight tweak was needed and I had to also only adjust my main highlights and shadow sliders slightly, However, I did have a challenge in how I took the shot. I wanted the boat to be perfectly symmetrical and to follow the rule of thirds, or as my pal Mads would say, the Tool of thirds, and while for many it would have been bang on, I noticed that I should have moved slightly to the right to ensure that the bow of the boat was directly in line with the stern, it can only be seen when I look for it, but once seen it’s hard to un-see as such. Nonetheless, I couldn’t adjust this in post, so the lesson here is to ensure you check and double-check when in the field, to ensure you don’t disappoint yourself when it comes to editing later :)
